About

The Dot I Called Home

When I was a very young punk, being Singaporean meant to me, growing up on an island surrounded by water. My thoughts were to get out – to see the world. I travelled profusely. Maybe to experience the adventures that owes to one being young. I had a craving to be free; perhaps it was nothing more than a calling to see the world beyond our borders.

Now and then when I hear of Singaporeans, like myself, expressing a feeling of repressed or somehow deprived. I remembered what I was like back then. Only now much older and slightly wiser.

I am here living in the States but I often wondered what my friends and family are doing and seeing back home. The fact is I become a prouder Singaporean after I left, discovering a fiercely patriotic side of me that I have not known existed. And the world that I so keenly wanted to explore becomes smaller than what I had imagined it to be.

I dedicate this site to all who is Singaporean at heart wherever you happen to find yourself in life

We live in a constantly changing world; nothing ever remains the same, except for change itself, stated from some wise person. With Singapore Lor, I am not out to change the world, only to share what I have heard going on back home and all things in my new home that remind me of Singapore.

Hopefully, in one moment, when you and I can witness that change, we can say together, ‘That’s Singapore Lor’.

I dedicate this site to all who is Singaporean at heart wherever you happen to find yourself in life – living wherever you are in this world.
